Easter Special with Australian Women's Weekly
This year I hosted an Easter special
with Australian Women’s Weekly aired on Channel 9.
This project involved a wonderful community
focused renovation on Sydney’s Northern Beaches at the Cromer Community Centre.
This facility is home to approximately 30 different playgroups, sporting clubs,
interest groups and classes. One of the biggest users is the Link Church, who
have a permanent “shop” set up inside the Centre where more than 300 of
Sydney’s most needy gather each week to purchase subsidized groceries and
receive free bread, fruit and vegetables. It is a wonderful service. So when I
saw an opportunity to help out this well integrated community I jumped at the
chance!
I designed the outdoor space and Lisa worked
her magic indoors. We integrated our designs together by using similar color
palettes, by bringing the plant material as a feature into the interior areas,
and by blurring the threshold between inside and out with overhead structures.
The community is completely ecstatic about
their new centre, and it has already started to attract more people to come and
use the facilities! This was a great feel good project to be a part of with
Lisa and Nige, we all thoroughly enjoyed it and, hey, what a wonderful
community to be able to give back to!!!
