Renowned for his work sculpting the human form, Australian born photographer James Houston explores the world of yoga with a striking collection of graphic images featuring the yoga body.
One was originally created by Houston as a way of giving something back to the gift of Yoga – to view it as an art form.
“Yoga is incredible to watch. Its like a combination of contortion, dance and gymnastics. I love shooting the human form and yoga lets you see the body really working... raw muscles and texture,” says Houston.
Inspiring quotes placed throughout the book complement the work, adding a spiritual insight to the project.
Houston is recognised as one of the worlds leading beauty/body photographers, working between America and Europe for clients such as Chanel, Clinique, Donna Karan, Max Mara and Gap. He released his first book Raw in 1997, and has held many photographic exhibitions as well as shooting for magazines such as Australian Vogue, Italian Harper’s Bazaar, Wallpaper, Oyster, American Vogue, British Glamour, Interview and British Marie Claire.
