Water plants—adding tranquility and calm
Beautiful to look at, soothing to listen to and refreshing to the touch, we don’t need to promote the benefits of including a pond or water feature in your outdoor space.
Second to none for creating an atmosphere of tranquility and calm in the garden, one of the biggest issues with water features these days is that they are looked upon more for their decorative attributes and water content than for what might live within them.
Plants look great in water and even the most contemporary water feature designs will be enhanced by the addition of leaves or flowers floating on the surface. Plants act as a natural water filter: they oxygenate the water, take up toxins and provide habitats for a range of different animal species, some of which even discourage mosquitoes!
Always take care to plant in water of a suitable depth, though, or else you might find your water plants drowning.
