The Outdoor Room
Episode 5 – Bali
Seven Network Australia
The story
Jason and Karen Cooper wanted to hold their wedding in their Brisbane
backyard. The only problem? Their garden was overgrown and unfinished.
Karen was planning a tropical-style wedding and was dreaming of a
garden to match. So where better for Jamie to gather inspiration than
beautiful Bali?
Tropical plants, thatched Balinese huts and stone carvings were a just
a few of the ideas Jamie brought back to transform Karen and Jason's
garden into a stunning outdoor room.
Celebrity chef Darren Simpson joined the celebration with a recipe for
Balinese-inspired chicken skewers with a spicy satay sauce – the
perfect party food for 80 wedding guests.
From the owners
Our wedding day was one of the
happiest days of our lives and to receive a garden makeover from you,
Jamie, was a dream come true.
We would like to thank you and the team from The Outdoor Room for creating a beautiful Balinese garden in which to celebrate.
When we decided to hold our wedding at home, we began our own garden
makeover – with little success. Having always enjoyed your shows, we
turned to your website for inspiration, but never imagined a Jamie
Durie garden makeover could become a reality.
The makeover added to the excitement and anticipation in the lead up to
the big day. We’re still amazed that the complete makeover was carried
out in the three days before the wedding!
We’re pleased to report that months later the garden is flourishing.
The tropical plants you selected are thriving and best of all they are
self sufficient. Having a low-maintenance garden is ideal for novice
gardeners and we enjoy spending as much time possible relaxing in our
outdoor room.
We love the new show and eagerly watch to see how you adapt ideas from exotic destinations and use them in Australian backyards.
We cannot thank you enough for the most wonderful wedding present and for creating the perfect setting for our wedding day.
Best wishes,
Karen and Jason Cooper
